About

We’re Taylor Lumber, a Nova Scotia-based company that operates a sawmill, a lumberyard, a chipping plant, pallet manufacturing, and a retail store.

But to create a healthy business ecosystem in line with our vision and maintain a zero-waste operation, we not only practice forest stewardship, but also use our outputs in the form of CFIA-certified ash production and an upcycling Biomass heat and power co-generation facility that powers all our operations and homes and businesses within a 30km radius.

Further, we are currently developing a food-growing greenhouse and eco-tourism horse stables. This means we are a carbon-negative operation.

Because our mission is to innovate sustainability; to have the wherewithal to recognize only healthy growth opportunities, and the courage to take them. And to do so according to our guiding values.

Sustainability

It starts in the woods themselves. We work with wood contractors and our own professional forestry staff to develop plans that include soil testing, tree density studies and wildlife surveys before any cutting begins. We use environmentally beneficial silviculture practices including tree planting and thinning as part of our forestry management processes. And we prefer to cut according to our orders versus speculating on possible sales.

Businesses often grow at the expense of the environment. We strive for harmony with nature in every aspect of our operations.
